NBA May Lower the Draft Eligibility Age

The NBA, Union Are Planning to Rule on Whether to Lower the Draft-Eligibility Age to 18

NBA May Lower the Draft Eligibility Age

It is reported that the NBA and NBPA are expected to agree on moving the age eligibility for the NBA Draft from 19 to 18 years of age. This is great news for hundreds of high-schoolers with dreams of making it to the league.

This sort of thing hasn't been done since 2005 and to be honest, it could take several years for the ruling to go into effect. Still, heavy hitters like commissioner Adam Silver have their fingers crossed and Adam says he remains hopeful.

The news is, so far the discussions have been positive and there are even other talks on the table such as the renegotiation of several important topics. So far the parties involved appear to be drawn to change and are open to new ideas and restructuring.

The big topic though, is the age eligibility rules. Athletes who feel they are ready to go pro could be included in the NBA draft. Naturally, we'll all be sitting on the edge of our seats awaiting the ruling but all seems to be going well.
